BRIEF HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Physical and Health Education was established in 1977 when the defunct College of Education Ikere-Ekiti came into existence. It transited to University of Education, Science and Technology on the 16th of October, 2020 after the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. John KayodeFayemi gave assent to the bill elevating theCollege into a University status.

The Department runs two academic programmes leading to the award of B.Sc. (Ed.) Human Kinetics and Sports Science and B.Sc. (Ed.) Health Education. Currently, the Department has one Professor, two Senior Lecturers, three Lecturer I, one Graduate Assistant and Dr. C. G. Aribamikan as the Acting Head of Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education.

Health education

The Bachelor of Science in Health Education is designed to: Offer students the opportunity to acquire the necessary skills and competences for successful teaching and organisation of Health Education in Secondary Schools as well as in tertiary institutions.

Human Kinetic and Sports Science

The programme is designed to: Offer students the opportunity to acquire the necessary skills and competences for successful teaching and organization of Human Kinetics and Sports Science in Secondary Schools as well as in tertiary institutions.
